Escalator begins at Easby Park, at the foot of the Barnicoat Range in Richmond. Easby Park is accessed from Marlborough Crescent. From the car park, head through the park until you reach the sign marking the start of Escalator on the right.
Escalator winds gradually up the hillside, passing through areas of native planting before entering pine plantation. Along the way, it intersects with and connects to numerous other tracks, offering plenty of options for loops of varying length and difficulty.
The track reaches Big Skid at approximately 350 m elevation, then continues up the harvested hillside to finish at the summit of Richmond Hill (513 m). From the summit, there are multiple options for descending, or for continuing along the Barnicoat Range (see map).
Escalator is the primary climbing track for mountain bikers in Kingsland Forest Park, but it is also used by walkers and trail runners in both directions.
