NELSON TRAILS

About Nelson Trails

About the website

Nelson Trails is a personal project developed by a local Nelsonian with a passion for the outdoors. The concept was born in late 2015, primarily out of dissatisfaction for the information that was available at the time; much of the existing online resources for Nelson-Tasman’s tracks and trails were either incomplete, limited in their content, or outdated. They also tended to focus on a single pursuit, e.g. only tramping or only mountain-biking. Armed with his local knowledge, geospatial background and complete lack of web development skills, the author took it upon himself to create something useful that could be used by anyone looking to head out and enjoy our region’s trails.

From these humble beginnings, Nelson Trails has progressed to being a leading source of information for tracks and trails in Nelson-Tasman. The aim of the website has stayed true throughout that time; to provide the most detailed, accurate and informative resource for all the trails the region has to offer. Trails are continually being added, though if there are any you’d specifically like to see, please get in touch using the email address below.
